More than Pilates

What can you add to get more out of exercise?

Melt Method and Stretching, read more on the about page. Exercise is the first step in taking care of your body. To keep muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints moving regular stretching is a must.

What helps even more is Melt Method - a gentle way to bring fluid hydration into the tissues in your entire body. Drinking water does not do this. Body areas need to be gently manipulated for this hydration to occur.

What is Pilates?

Pilates improves the mind, body and soul. It is for everybody and every body because it not only exercises the muscles it corrects the muscle firing patterns in concert with the nervous system and corrects any negative postural adaptations.

The focus required by Pilates movement creates a more disciplined mind and physical body. Every exercise is a full body exercise. Accessing forgotten or under used muscles is how Pilates integrates movement into your entire body. When you're more comfortable with these new muscles your body awareness increases exponentially, it is inevitable.

A deeper connection with your physical body and your mindful movement brings happiness to your soul. Anytime you do something for the self that takes you closer to wholeness your soul will celebrate. It could be those endorphins kicking in, but Pilates gives you an inner grace and whole body connection that is lacking in other exercise.

What is Assisted Stretch?

This type of stretching is done by a practitioner to a client. It is not passive stretching. There are several techniques that can be used to stretch muscles and fascia (connective tissue). Think of it as flexibility training, the client will learn what a proper stretch should feel like and what specific areas need more time stretching. Assisted stretching increases flexibility and mobility, it aids in recovery from workouts and helps prevent injuries.

What is Balance Work?

Balance work and/or fall prevention is consistent practice of challenging the body's standing balance. Good balance means falling is less likely and less injury if a fall does occur. Balance work needs to be done more consistently than exercise because it is training the nervous system, practice at least 5 times a week. The good news is 10-15 minutes a day is all that is required. The nervous system needs more input or more exposure to stimulus than the muscle system. The other good part is progress or improved balance will be noticed faster than exercise.

The Foot Collective methods are used at this studio. Foot exercises, foot stretches and balance work can help plantar fasciitis, bunions, neuropathies and most other foot ailments.

What is Melt Method?

MELT Method is a simple self-treatment method that is clinically proven to reduce chronic pain. It includes several guided techniques using a soft roller and small balls on the connective tissue. These techniques increase fluid flow in the connective tissue (fascia) which decreases stiffness, tension, stress and pain in the body.

Melt Method can help with speeding up recovery after workouts or surgeries, enhance performance for athletics, reduce pain of arthritis & neuropathies and many other ailments.
